Identity Verification Notice
On October 26, 2001, President Bush signed into law the USA Patriot Act. The purpose of this law is to help protect you, your family and our country from terrorism by preventing terrorist financing. We want you to know that section 326 of this Act requires our credit union to verify the identity of all new credit union members. We must also verify the identity of members and nonmembers added as signatories to and having access to new or existing deposit accounts and loans. We must also retain copies of documents used to verify your identity.
If you are an existing member who joined the credit union before the USA Patriot Act rules became effective we may also need to verify and retain copies of any documents used to verify your identity when you request a new deposit account, apply for a loan or are added as a signatory to a new or existing deposit or loan account.
We ask for your understanding as we work to support these efforts to maintain the security of your funds and our country. Please speak with a credit union staff member if you have any questions or concerns about our identification policies.
VFCU & Los Fresnos High School working together
The branch at Los Fresnos High School functions as a complete working branch of Valley Federal Credit Union, except with two main differences:
- It is open only to students and staff
The VFCU branch shows students first hand about the importance of efficient financial practices and transactions. The first two students who helped start the Los Fresnos VFCU branch are now full-time tellers at our main branch in Brownsville. Valley Federal Credit Union encourages graduating student tellers to assume full-time positions at our main branch, as well. We also highly encourage other students, faculty and staff members to open accounts and practice taking care of their financial needs.
Stock Market Game
Certain Brownsville schools participate in the Stock Market Game, a program which helps students get involved and learn about the buying and selling of commodities (stock). Throughout the fiscal year, students buy and sell certain stocks in hopes of making successful trades. At the end of the year, Valley Federal Credit Union hosts an Award Brunch at our main office in Brownsville recognizing the students’ success by awarding trophies and certificates.
H-E-B Feast of Sharing
The Feast of Sharing serves a Thanksgiving dinner for more than 2,500 people each year. Valley Federal Credit Union proudly participates at the H-E-B Feast of Sharing for the community in Brownsville and Harlingen.
Toys for Tots
Valley Federal Credit Union has sponsored Toys for Tots two years in a row.
Canned Goods Drive
