What is an overdraft fee?

An overdraft fee is a charge made by the bank on your account if you try making a purchase with an insufficient amount of funds available. The bank will cover the expense for you, but will charge the fee for covering it. The charge for an overdraft fee is $30.00 for every time you swipe your card. For example, if you make a purchase at a grocery store with a negative balance you will be charged for your purchase plus the additional thirty dollar fee, even if you make more than one transaction a day.
